Exhibitors in Action

American Structurepoint exhibited our architecture and engineering services at the 2013 SAME Great Lakes/Ohio Valley JETS Regional Conference October 16-18. The event, hosted by The Rock Island Post and Illini Post, took place in historic Davenport, Iowa. Nearly 300 people were in attendance for the technical sessions and exhibits. Other events included technical tours, a fun run along the Mississippi River, demonstration rides on Segway personal transporters, a Rock Island Metro Youth Drill Team performance, and bowling in the Hotel Blackhawk Bowling Lounge.

From mid-October through November, we’ve got seven shows in six different states!

Teambuilding Exercise Uses Investigative Skills to Solve a Mystery

By Leslie Benson, Marketing Communications Group > Sometimes asking the right questions and putting yourself “in someone else’s hat” will help you solve a crime—even a make-believe one. Take it from this “Ace Reporter,” there is much to be said about teaming up to investigate, uncover clues, and solve a mystery. Similar to the work done by our Investigative/Forensics Group, the Marketing Communications Group uncovered “whodunit” during a teambuilding exercise held on June 12.

Hosted by two actors dressed in 1920s garb, the group was led through a live storytelling “caper” and had to use investigative techniques, interviewing and observation skills, teamwork, and on-the-spot thinking to get down to the bottom of a mystery. The employees all assumed roles as various characters in a 1920s “speakeasy” (e.g., a lounge singer, a detective, a criminal, etc.) and improvised as actors to discover the hidden identity of the “killer.” At the end of the experience, everyone had gumshoed their way to understanding who had the perfect motive and opportunity to commit the crime.
