Staff should have already received an email with a survey from the Community Service Project. The project committee is seeking feedback regarding the ways you would prefer to participate in the program, what motivates you to participate (or has kept you from participating), and what you feel could be improved. Responses are due back by noon on Monday, August 5. Everyone who responds to the survey will be entered into a drawing, the winner of which will be entitled to select a charitable organization (within our standard guidelines) to be a recipient of $500 for our August donation. In case you missed the email, here’s the survey link.

We had 53 participants in our “guess the number of beans” contest during the Chili Cookoff on July 26. Zach Wolf’s client, Mark Richards, director of Community Development Services and city engineer for City of Greenwood, was closest without going over. His guess was 7,824. The correct number was 9,856. Mark’s prize was the opportunity to choose a food bank or soup kitchen to receive $500 from the Community Service Project. He selected The Refuge, an outreach center based in Greenwood that offers food, clothing, and counseling to those in need in the community. Other game stats: Kent Moore technically came the closest to the actual number of beans, but he was on the high side with a guess of 10,172. We had three staff members with the same guess (5,001) and two other entries with the same guess (7,200). The lowest guess was 487; the highest guess was 1,000,000. We also received $15 in the free-will offering jar, which will be added into our budget to fund other giving throughout the year.
